A Massive Asteroid Detected 18 Years Ago And Will Pass Close to Earth Mide Next Month

Asteroid (2002 PZ39) was detected 18 years ago and it’s going to have its close approach on February 15, 2020. The asteroid is around 440 meters to 990 meters, which is over 3,000 feet in diameter. Also classified as a PHA asteroid, which stands for a ‘Potentially Hazardous Object. The object is traveling over 33,000 miles per hour.

If this asteroid were to hit Earth is could cause significant damage. We are talking about statewide devastation. Luckily this asteroid will not come to that close, its closes approach is 15.2 LD (Lunar distance), which is about 3,588,094 miles away from Earth but could become a future thread.
