The newly classified Apollo NEO asteroid 2019 XF is set to pass Earth on December 18, 2019. The object was observed a month ago from now on November 25, 2019, and will miss Earth at a flashing speed of 53,000 miles per hour. The object size is estimated to be from 59 to 130 meters in diameter. That puts the object over 400 feet tall.
Closest Approach Distance from Earth
Good thing Asteroid (2019 XF) will not be hitting Earth because the object’s speed and size are impressive.
For years NASA has been able to detect large objects like Asteroid (2019 XF), but finding one like this so late is proof we need improvement and additional research in asteroid detection technology.
If an asteroid like this were to strike Earth, we would only have a few days to prepare for the worst and with every little time to save Earth.
